Community Outreach

This year our school did many things as part of our outreach curriculum.  Monthly we provided services to the Bangor Public Library in the children's department.

Every christmas we choose a special family that we can provide gifts and food for.  What a blessing it is to give to others in need.

An elderly lady in the Bangor area received some much needed lawn clean-up as another one of our outreach activities.  We enjoyed several hours of raking, doing general spring clean-up, and enjoying nice conversation and juice with a new friend.

Greenhouse

As of February 25 we have begun planting our seed starts for the 2010 spring season.  We research each plant we are going to grow and set up a planting calendar.  The seedling flats are placed in our sunny windows--and as soon as the weather stabilizes (mid April) the plants get a new home in our greenhouse.  From there they thrive in the sunshine until they are ready to be sold in late May.  What a great time of year to be getting our hands in the dirt and in anticipating spring and fresh tomatoes.

Exercise Trail

The students have been working throughout the year on a trail through our acreage.  This trail will be used for exercise, studies, and general recreation.  Plans are now in place to also add some exercise equipment as part of this trail system.

Playground Equipment

New Equipment was installed this past fall to enhance our growing playground.  The new equipment is not only fun but also provides students with strength and muscle toning exercises.
